Of course, almost all young people now remember Bush as one of the most unpopular names in America: This itself is just a glimpse into how badly unpopular these two candidates were in their time. McCain's main appeal was to Iraq War hardliners because he advocated a strong commitment to the war, and Romney's appeal was that as "Obama White" he would be moderate enough to win the election.
