In capeshit settings the technology may have advanced but people still think and act like people in the 1930s and 40s did. It's archaic and out of touch to an infantile degree. Even the whole costume aspect of capeshit is barely held onto anymore, with every hero's costume getting updated to look like power armor with extremely dull colors or shelved altogether because of how ridiculous the concepts of costumes are.
