After prowling through all sorts of fan communities it seems like the general reception towards this reveal is, despite what /gig/ might wish, not animosity or hate towards the existence of a spaceship but rather disappointment at how it was revealed. Even if most people seem to agree that 'they needed to get it out of the way since it will come up in the future' everyone still seems to agree the delivery was rather poor
Feels like it's a sore spot for a lot of people and has negatively affected their optimism when it comes to the writers' ability to handle future plot points
