Below is the result of the extra funding directed to purchase farming tools and irrigation supplies to accelerate the second stage of the Revised Mojave Restoration Plan.
The shortage is due to a lack of domestic manufacturing within the region and an extreme demand from both the government and private enterprises to expand food production. The new Legion trading caravans have alleviated some of this but their numbers weren’t where we needed them for this program so I looked inward.
I made contact with a NCR trader who promised me just about everything we would need to get back on our projected timeline, through one single purchase. The only reason I wasn’t suspicious was the price was what I expected based on the demand, so I instead chalked it up to a lucky break.
Before I confirmed the purchase, I did inspect the product and from the brief investigation, everything was there. Hoes, plows, shovels, rakes, sprinklers and plenty of others which would have been a boon for our efforts.
It was only after the caps were handed over and the merchant made a hasty retreat before I realized the equipment is, pardon my language, shit. The scrap used is such a low quality that it’s borderline dangerous for farmhands to use and the irrigation equipment, while being well made, is incredibly irradiated and is unusable for obvious reasons.
I take full responsibility for this and I can assure you this will not happen again. There’s been a lot of focus put on the expansion of foodstuff production and I take my job seriously.
