words can't describe how sharply my interest in gene editing dropped when I realized gene addition wasn't cumulative and you had to store/power them indefinitely, recook and reimplant the xenogerm (with accompany coma) EVERY FUCKING TIME you wanted to add a new gene - or otherwise arbitrarily add long stretches to an already drawn out process
playing gene gacha just to pull pig nose or grey skin out and wasting time and prisoners isn't fun either, genes are extremely OP but I still end up not using them outside of allowing prefab xenotypes because they're so annoying to play around... most of the time it's saved for late/endgame when I can just go buy all the genes I want from the empire directly with shuttles
