In my country, villagers built their own wells. They didn't have access to expensive equipments but they still worked hard together and as a result they never had to drink muddy water or walk 3 hours every morning just to get somewhat drinkable water.
It blows my mind that africans actually get paid by foreigners to build a well for themselves or they won't work. They also stole parts from it to sell and the well stops working. It's fucked up
