Started playing Star Fox Adventures for the first time today. Having a great time and so far it's my favorite of Rares 3D games. But I'm not here to talk about the game itself. My friend was watching me play through it since he was curious about it as well and almost immediately he started noticing something, and then I started noticing it too. Just about every single sound effect in the video game is the most iconic, overused, stock sound effect of all time. This isn't too unusual in it of itself, plenty of games have a few sounds here and there that are distractingly famous from something else, Dooms door sound effect comes to mind as one I hear in everything, but I shit you not it is quite literally every single sound effect in this game. It became a game in it of itself for us to call out what the sound effects were from as we heard them. Yup, Nickelodeon slime sound. Oh shit, Doom Imp sound. Stock puma sound that was in so many commercials. We really couldn't believe it.

It almost seems like it was done on purpose. Like it was an inside joke on the sound designers part to handpick only the most well known stock sound effects. A lot of them don't even make sense for what they're attached to, it has to be some sort of prank. I'm not even mad, it's funny as fuck.
