I do this too.
Tried the classic Eavy Metal, Blanchitsu and Grimdark method, and I noticed that Eavy Metal is so much nicer.
Blanchitsu model just ended up blending with each other from afar and unless the background is also brown and drab, they just look dirty and sloppy in comparison to their surrounding.
Grimdark only works with black background and close up. Put them on a light environment or a tabletip setting and like blanchitsu, the contrast just makes them look sloppy.
For a display and tabletop environment eavy metal style is the best. You can see the colors and focal points (face, weapons, base, insigna) from afar and the highlights make them a treat to see up close.
