For the most part, it was fine. Just regular work, changing car oil and brake lights, other things. But holy shit, do I have a fucking story for you. So I was sitting at home on Thursday night, wanna say around 9 pm or so. Just relaxing, sitting back and pondering things. I was looking at the window, but in the way you don't realize you're looking at something while lost in thought. And that's when the explosion happened. Or at least it felt like an explosion, one of the loudest booms I've ever heard in my entire goddamn life accompanied by a blinding white light through the blinds. Amazing how so many different things can race through your head in a split-second. Immediately I thought maybe a bomb. It wasn't until the residual thundering gradual faded away that I realized lightning had struck super close. Can not stress to you how fucking LOUD this was. July 4th was only two weeks ago, but it didn't compare. There are not enough words to describe the feeling, it was like a hundred fireworks at once. Was mildly fascinated, so I peeked out the window.

My neighbor's fucking tree was on fire. The tree in her front yard, which is right next to mine. Lightning didn't just strike close, IT WAS RIGHT FUCKING THERE. Like 30 feet from my front door, it was that close. That's when I went out, confirmed things were mostly okay and started hosing down everything nearby lest a flaming branch drop on anything. Thankfully firefighters are only about 10 minutes away but it still took them a while to put it out. Meanwhile my fucking phone is blowing up with people asking if I heard that. Imagine their reactions when I told them I was literally ground zero. Dad face-timed and I had to show him and ma the tree burning 3 stories above us. Fuck.
