It does look something like a Dyson sphere, but that doesn't make much sense. Aren't Dyson spheres only meant for things like stars that emit an immense amount of energy? If anything, a Dyson sphere, even a partial one, might end up blocking energy from the sun that the Earth needs. Not sure about the rest of it talking about getting energy from war.
As for the Prison analogy, EVE and Lily seem surprised when they first see the Colony. That's odd, because they were at the Colony not that long ago. Which means, what we saw of the Colony is quite different than what it was before either EVE or Lily left it. The analogy may still apply, because we don't know what the Colony was like before Lily and EVE left it. But given how they look around surprised, the size of the Colony seems new to them.
