Batponies may exist as magically altered pegasi like we see in Bats!, but since they do not exist as a population they are not a race by definition. An individual does not constitute a race. When I have a child and for whatever reason that child has green skin that doesn't mean he is of another race, it only would become a new human race if he were to reproduce isolated to created a new green human race. Crystal ponies are a pony population with distinct features that are present at all times and thus a race (they show crystal features outside of the Crystal Heart's magical bursts). All pony races are magically altered anyway in some way since inherent species magic exists like shown in School Raze.
