These threads have me thinking, and I hate it, but I realize that either side could easily win by taking a open and honest stance on their own goals or ambitions for this conflict. No shills, no false banners, just an identity making a claim and standing by that claim.
However, this can only fail if the claim or position is universally horrible. So neither side can take an open position. Therefore, both are wrong and the only winning move is to let them kill each other. Who really loses if the middle east is a nonfactor for the future? China wouldn't care. Russia wouldn't care. US would save shitloads of money. Europe would pretend to cry while the people celebrate in the streets. Where's the downside?
