As someone who actually got invested in HI3's story, saying that Kevin was a downgrade is an understatement of the century. Otto was an absolutely insane bastard who tortured little girls in Siberian rape dungeons to revive his long-dead galpal who hated him with a passion for torturing little girls. He was built up over a very fucking long time, being the main (and active, unlike Celestia in Genshin) antagonist in the game.
Then he dies, and Kevin replaces him, and Kevin is just fucking boring as sin. A brooding shitlord who wants to achieve essentially what the Reapers in Mass Effect were doing. He had an entire long as fuck story campaign all about him and his butt buddies, and he somehow ended up being the most boring one by far, with the only takeaway being "he wasn't such a fag way back when, but it doesn't matter anymore". Then you punch him real hard, and Kiana becomes god, ending the story of HI3.
No shit everyone preferred Otto.
