Smug small-souled bugpeople just like to say he's wrong because he didn't magically write down a bunch of neurological crap nobody of his time would have any way of discussing.
Freudian ideas are more sensible than most of the tenets of modern psychiatry where they just prescribe antipsychotics for every bullshit psychiatric "disorder" nowadays. Which isn't surprising since a major problem with modern psychiatry is you can't do reverse inference of these diagnoses from brain scans. The attempts to infer OCD or schizophrenia or bipolar disorder etc. from brain scans results in the same brain features being associated with every one of those conditions. So there aren't really any meaningful physical distinctions that can be used to justify those categories.
Where we're at today is basically "these people are behaving in weird ways with no real neurological problems anyone can find, so let's put them on drugs that makes them sleepier and more docile."
