>Throne help me. We discovered the creature floating in the thin, syrupy air of this Emperor-forsaken low-grav world. It was like a foul hallucination scrawled in the margins of some pre-Compliance apocrypha. It was long, inhumanly so. Its limbs and neck were stretched like something bred in null-grav tanks far from the Emperor’s light. Its suit, a second skin of dull, war-worn synth-weave, caught the glint of three pale moons that loomed behind her, revealing a taut, emaciated form stretched over hollow bones. It appeared to be female, or close enough to it. Her face...alluring in a way that made your stomach clench. Like a porcelain mask framed in limp strands of oil-slick black, spattered with black freckles like burn-spatter across alabaster,. Eyes too wide, too gray, like the void had borrowed them. Her hair drifted around her like she was underwater, or dead, or dreaming. I don’t know which disturbed me more. I’d heard of the Longshanks before; ghost stories told by old scribes and Rogue Traders three glasses deep. Imperial by only the slimmest technicalities. Used for missions where failure was assumed. Disavowed before they even launched. But to stare at one that close? Emperor forgive me, but I was awestruck.
