If they attached a "made in America" stipulation, it would onshore this stuff, reduce budget impact, and keep it passable. The green credits are ultimately a sort of compromise to get moderates to vote for it. We don't want to blow up our bill in an effort to improve it.

>What do you believe the end game is if Trump does bomb Iran? It's clearly an unpopular opinion even among his base. Not looking for meme answers (Jews are forcing him etc, even if they're likely factual), just wanting to know what the argument behind it is. I've always figured Trump never really cared about most things besides being viewed as a popular president and this move will likely define his legacy the same way Bush is defined as "The Iraq disaster dude", who ironically Trump made fun off during his debates with Jeb.
I'll bite. His goal is, as usual, to procure a beneficial arrangement with Iran (or a newly-installed Iranian govt if he goes the regime change route) which will inure to the benefit of the United States in time to come. Almost nobody seems to think about this until Trump does it, at least when they respond to me, but almost every conflict with Trump just leads to a deal. With the Houthis, we got a good America first deal. We've already even seemingly made a deal with the Taliban. I'm not even a fan of everything Trump does--such as his recent cordiality toward the new despot of Syria--but I understand his motives put our Country first.
I don't know if Trump's goals exactly align to mine, but my goals in Iran would be the following:
1. Iran stops funding Planned Parenthood and other Democrat organizations.
2. Nuke deal
3. Trade deal
4. Complete religious freedom for American missionaries and Iranian converts
5. Return of stolen property owned by Americans
6. Reparations for Iranian wrongdoings
7. Iranian Quds Force organizations abroad must protect US assets rather than attacking them.
