That "average new car" figure is retarded bullshit as what most drivers need is the least expensive compact sedan/hatchback on the market (something to drive 1-3 people around safely and pick up groceries) and the average cost of that is more like 20k (because Mitsubishit and Nigsan undercut everyone with their garbage, otherwise it'd be like 24k).
