She looks like that cause her father's a Tamil Brahmin (racially North Indian) and her mother's (picrel) half North Indian Thakur/Rajput and half Marathi (probably Brahmin or Kulin Maratha so still racially North Indian).
You wouldn't find many Tamil women in Tamil films, they're more likely to cast as white women as Tamils than they are to cast Tamil women, I've seen more Tamil women in Hollywood as diversity hires.
