I was in the mindset of investing in growing money rather than going through the steps of life as well.
From 18-23 I worked huge overtime in the oil patch and made $120k a year, driving a old camry and living with my parents. Instead of moving out, I bought commercial space I rented and tried to fix the building whilst making my payments on it.
Went into a lower paying position after that, but still lived at home and put all of my money into the property and the family farm.
Now I'm 32, have never been on a date, have never been to an adult party, have no friends and have a net worth of 1.2 million since both farmland and commercial real estate in Calgary went crazy. I bought a condo for 375k in almost all cash last fall and got a nice truck a few years ago after always buying shitboxes and I just lay alone in bed and wagecuck at my job since it gets me out of my house.
I was always told I did the smart thing and made good moves, but I really don't even feel wealthy, just some stunted man child without purpose. I also have anxiety around people and am very awkward. I mostly just isolate myself and collect vintage toys from the 90s in my free time.
