Obama weas practically a centrist policy wise, both fiscally and solicially. He bailed out big corporations and anti-gay marriage when he took office and never vocally supported the Supreme Court decision to legalize it. And Clinton, Biden and Harris were all also lukewarm take-no-risks neoliberal appeaser candidates.
