As Lorene leaves, she thinks about the past few hours. Then, she scrunches her face. She was no closer to finding her parents than she had been this morning. The girl pulls out her phone. Maybe there was an infinitesimally small chance that they’d tried calling her back and she didn’t notice?

While there was nothing from her parents, there was a text message from Olivia.
