They're called relics and are holy
While not a priest it is assumed (by me) that all those people on mount athos have attained or were on their way towards attaining sainthood and saints are blessed and capable of doing wonders even after they are dead through their garments,their bones,their relics and whatever is left of them. Catholics (and muslims and protestants and JW's) dont know of this phenomenon because they do not actually have saints
