>It's unreal just how fucked the console kiddies gimped the soul of arma in less than two years.
I've been playing the original OFP and tried a Russian community mod (they're some of the few people who still play with it, I think some Polish gamers too) and they've autistically recreated a bunch of vintage Soviet stuff. Some of the models they've made are nice. It's all in Russian though, so I'd screengrab a briefing and tell ChatGPT to translate it, and that actually works. I randomly picked a mission and it put me in the position of a captured American pilot who is driven around to different sites on Kolgujev, made to wait in a tent under armed guard, and A.I. Russian characters would come up and talk to me (in Russian), and then finally I was driven out into a field in the middle of the nowhere and executed. That was the mission.
Lesson: stick with the Poles
Also someone else is making a mod that takes place in the 1960s that looks cool and I think there are some missions already for it:

>Any kind of game that's sold on """realism""" is always either painfully boring, tedious, and devoid of fun because reality is fucking gay as shit.
I like it to be balanced between fun and "realism." Dslyecxi and the Shacktac people were always good at that. That was the only gaming clan I ever played with in a regular way for a little bit.

>every fighter pilot i've talked to loves ace combat and none of them play dcs because it's like their day job except worse in every way
I knew a guy who flew on Rivet Joints (well he would never tell me the exact aircraft but I deduced that) and took one look at CMANO and was like "ugh, looks like my job when I was in the Air Force." He had zero interest in it.
