I'm playing Dead Space 2 lately, and it got me wondering, when exactly did developers decide to make ammo drops be RNG only? RE4 did have plenty of random drops for example, but also plenty of fixed ones, and that made replays better since you can plan ahead, and gather ammo before picking up a specific weapon, and that kind of thing is lost in games where the ammo drop is purely RNG, unless you're specifically carrying the gun, and imo, makes replay value a little worse...
