It's time to go. While you've gotten a good amount of data, the bots have definitely been alerted. One of their own going missing is going to trigger a response alarm. You keep up your fighting spirit, unsure what you'll encounter on the way out. It turns out that the next problem is only seconds away.
"Uh, Marnie. Who's that?"
You turn around, and your heart skips a beat. Standing in the open doorway is a human girl, watching all of this go down with a dispassionate look on her face.
Crap. A witness. Was she observing the entire time? You didn't expect anybody else to be in here, and you certainly didn't see anybody in the partition. Apart from that flash of... blue?
As you examine this strange figure, you notice that she's translucent, with the space behind her highlighted in an azure haze. You can't see her eyes, despite her head being raised to face you, and rectangular packets of data constantly flow from the edge of her body. She seems to be mouthing something, but you can't hear her. It's like the audio is set to zero. Porcupamon gets into a fighting stance, very much put off by the spectral witness.
You feel the same. You've never seen anyone like this before. It feels as though her model is damaged beyond repair, with chunks constantly flying off and being replaced with flat square and blocky artifacts. It doesn't even leave a wireframe behind. A sense of uncanniness strikes you as you register the extent of her malfunctions.
"She saw us! What do we do? We can't just-"
Before he can discuss deleting her, something wrenches her backwards into the dark. Her expression doesn't change, even as she's tugged by the small of her back and folded up into an infinitesimal point. She disappears into Doc's workshop, and all is silent.
"What the hell was that?"
"You're askin me?! You're the one who knows all the crackers!"
"Let's just... Get out of here."
You leave the bizarre specter behind and hololize Porcupamon. When you run towards the fenceline, you can't help but look back countless times, terrified of seeing her once more.
