As for "why": it's because civilization is based on slavery. All the major ancient civilizations relied on slaves to maintain their households. European mud-dwellers managed to defeat the civilized slavers they had warred against but simply ended up adopting their lifestyle, which couldn't be maintained without slaves, so they made their own women into house niggers.
