I feel like understanding Donald is only a problem when the characters talk about it. Everyone understands him fine until someone mentions his voice is weird, then no one understands him. Like in the season one finale where the nephews reveal they each have different tricks for understanding him.

So Violet would comment on Donald's excellent vocabulary or something and everyone else would be like "you just met him and you understand him perfectly?" and she just shrugs and refuses to make a big deal of it.
