Trump has been assigned as the scapegoat for the Epstein scandal so as to curb the potential for another right-wing populist movement like MAGA to gain steam for a number of years thereby. At this point, the only reasonable explanation is that he's intentionally undermining his own Administration for the benefit of his social-engineering handlers. If he was doing all this to himself out of stupidity, someone would've intervened by now and told him to stop drawing so much attention to the scandal.
