The "me VS you" thing goes far, people live in worlds where everyone is on their "side" or the opposite "side", the two are perfectly disconnected and separate with no overlap, and if you support, like, or approve of ANYTHING they don't, you must be their mortal enemy here to subvert or destroy them
And they will create entire headcanons about you in their head as they're arguing with you over dumb meaningless shit like anime or vidya to protect that worldview because otherwise their whole ego falls apart
