I'm watching the Bogle interviews and he says the difference between 5% and 7% returns over a lifetime is turning $1 into $50 or $150 and he's saying that in relation to fees charged by mutual funds and active managers, but I remember that most people I know just have all of their savings into "high yield savings accounts" that used to yield like 0 and now maybe get 2% at best.
