What about the 70(5?)-300mm? As a logical endpoint probably be using a tripod,but I don't really want to be pushed into it as mandatory unless it's really cheap or so drastically better than something else that it justifies the extra set up time. The 55mm looks like a normalish eye level, so if I could get like 2 or 3x that for zoom I think I could make up with just getting closer in most cases.
