Israel says it has killed Iran's new military chief of staff, Ali Shadmani

The Israeli military said on Tuesday it had killed Iran's newly appointed armed forces chief of staff, General Ali Shadmani, in what would be a major escalation between the regional arch-foes.
The announcement comes just days after Shadmani's predecessor, General Mohammad Bagheri, was killed in a widespread Israeli strike on June 13 that targeted Iranian military command centers and nuclear-related infrastructure, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The IDF described Shadmani as a close confidant of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
