Indians or Pakistanis being nationalistic is similar to "Romanian nationalists"
the idea is that "nationalism" just falls in-line with the authoritatian police state that Romania finds itself in so just like in communism if you pretend to like Romania you get extra brownie cookies
the brainwashing and propaganda among Romanians is phenomenal, with lots and lots of lies being spread around, most of them nearly ripped out of the Russian army marching orders or Russian propaganda (you know, the usual, "the US invented AIDS" and other assorted stuff)
so they will be able to spit and swear on their graves that they're a Romanian patriot until they have a complete guarantee that they would never return here, at which point they flip completely
it's sad, but what I'm saying, the second paragraph of picrel in OP is "wishful thinking"
in reality Indians and Pakis are even more trite than Europeans, so they fall way easier for frugal pursuits like having a car, an expensive watch, etc, so they would definitely rather be in the US even for the sake of flaunting their wealth to the people they left back home
Romania is the same, just way smaller country, so way less visible
