If you look at sales, Blue Archive is not a mega hit. It's super profitable but it's not top 10 or 20, or even close. And yet, we get orders of magnitude more fanart and fanworks. I mean, other gachas get their own little corners on comiket while BA gets a whole building.

What I suspect is that, while the number of people playing BA isn't that high, the game seems to have a much higher retention rate. What that means is that a lot of people are playing it from the start and they don't have to spend as much. Add to that the fact that the gacha is quite generous.
