Definitive Edition looks better in MOST cases but there are definitely a lot of areas where the original is objectively better. Especially in terms of attention to detail - trees are animated in the original and completely rigid in definitive, for example, which kind of totally ruins one of the game's opening shots which is of branches gently waving in the wind.
Some characters also look retarded in DE, but really only certain side characters, the main cast looks great.

The dub is 100% better, and Definitive Edition is the way to go due to the QoL, such as being able to temporarily reduce your levels if you get overleveled from doing side content.
