i don't think i ever cut for blood loss. i think in the moment i mostly found the sensation of my skin coming apart very interesting, and i actually had an interest in stymying the bleeding. i was aware of how a lot of cutters would accidentally do major damage to themselves with all of those fine movement tendons and such in your forearms. so, in addition to avoiding the social stigma, i would also be avoiding the most obvious chances of permanent damage, win win.
