Yup. Our childhoods had hope sitting there for us. There was a path that we had to see to, and if we just walked it, it was supposed to be fine.
Because of that, they convinced all of us to debt max to get through college and get the paper, and that the doors would open.
By the time it happened for us, the doors all but closed. If you got anywhere, you were either A) in the club, B) were of the right demographic (not white), or C) you broke the rules they told you to follow to try to get ahead....and then were lucky enough to do so.
Reality is, Zoomers already know about all of this - and they are choosing path C wayyyy more than our age group did.
Zoomers honestly have a chance that many of us in our cohort never knew that we would have had. In that sense, and that sense only, Zoomers have something that we didn't.
