And the issue really is, as you said, dogrector takes too big leaps in terms of powerscaling. Lei Heng is a cool ID, sure, but the problem is that he is now the stepping stone for what people will expect the next IDs to be at, comparatively.
If they aren't, fans of said sinners are just going to feel dissatisfied at what seems like an underwhelming choice contrasted with. And that is totally reasonable.
