It didn't work well in that instance. I'd say a ton of hax in BC is kind of situational on its feats because sometimes you need magic power to backup your shit, for example Asta not being able to just overpower every spell without being roughly peer to it in power.
>how was Gojo vs Yami ever a debate
I don't know when it was, but Yami's way too fast for Gojo anyway and Black Moon as he mentions can straight up absorb a spell so he could cancel both infinity and infinite void.

>It just cut through some rock?
>So it's just a bubble of magic energy? And Asta uses a power that negates magic
No? It's a dimensional space that you can't leave. Yami cuts it with a slash that explicitly bypasses it.

>Where, specifically, does this happen?
In this page and the page I posted? He ignores Yami and bisects the entire thing with an attack using the same sword, same name and same striking movement. He already has a technique called Black Slash, so if it was just a "flying sword cut" and nothing else it'd be completely redundant to have the same kind of attack as Yami.
>So how much of a physical boost is it over...
Clearly many tens of times like it says since the latter meteor feat was pre-timeskip.
>So does every other major villain
So? That's still the power ceiling in the setting, is what I mean.
