I've always liked that trope for some reason, even in movies and tv series, especially if the cheater doesn't face any consequences after and has "deal with it" attitude after. For me it's kinda similar when author for whatever reason establishes that a girl has a high body count and likes (or used to) sleep around. Even if she ends up in a relationship it's implied that she won't be loyal even if she loves the guy and will sleep with someone else because it's in her nature.

For me it's because it makes the heroine more realistic by giving her some faults and it highlights her "slutty" and promiscous nature which I'm very interested in. I also like when the guy finds out he eventually forgives her and copes with it, sometimes he finds it hot and asks questions about it (about the cheating or her promiscous past).
