Progressivism and liberalism fundamentally disagree on matters such as meritocracy, egalitarianism, secularism, and equality verses equity.
Liberalism would stipulate

Progressivism rejects this in favor of

Progressivism rejects liberalism as a system that has supposedly failed to achieve equity and social parity of brown people and gays. Liberalism is the system through which capitalism has flourished and spread while progressivism rejects it as greedy and exploitative.
The political left is no longer "liberal" in principles. They are progressives.
