Adaptive Daydreaming.

Taking a walk at night,
Feet dipped low where shadow meets light.
Separate at the seams, unfulfilled and incomplete,
My mental penumbra burns at the sides.

Hands covered in soot,
Verses that once might have burned for you.
I bled it all, and for what?
Another month turned into non-sequitur.

Where I cry, I won’t be loud,
There’s no more voice to scream or shout.
I’ll smile even when it’s not bright,
I’ll look to the moon under the sunlight.

Bringing myself to tears day after day,
For a story that’s not mine,
And yet still, I’ll suffocate.

Fiction forsaken from my feeble fallen fearful mind,
Time and time I’ll try and still won’t make it to the other side.
But as long I still believe that there is a light,
I won’t stop writing until I’m at the end of the tunnel’s shine.

Not really, no! Though I do find 'Collared' by Vane Lily in my youtube mix occasionally.
I do make stuff with leather, though, I've been trying to get into it. I've made a wristband I'm wearing now, and I'd like to be able to make more professional and even kinky stuff in the future.
You got the metaphor pretty right, though! If I'm being pretentious, the sentiment of the last stanza is about refusing to overcome your nature and instead finding shelter and contentment in it.
