Hello yes card carrying Tolkien Taliban here, lets unpack this.
Tolkien's orcs aren't mindless bad guys. They have the spark of good baked into them because they weren't created, in the truest sense, by Morgoth. They were elves tortured and twisted into an unrecognizable form, but the deepest essence is still that of good. Tolkien being a devout Christian couldn't have the evil force of his world be capable of creating new life, only corruption of it. So there's always a way back, even if one is far gone as an orc. In the end of the Second Age, it is said all races barring the elves fought on either side of the conflict, which directly implies a tribe or two of orcs shoulder to shoulder with men, elves and dwarfs. And I read somewhere, can't remember exactly where sorry, that Tolkien wanted Sam and Frodo to encounter a tribe of peaceful orcs during their journey, but decided not to because it would hurt the flow of the story. Hope this helps heart emoji.
