Ukraine Says It Downed 119 Missiles and Drones in Massive Russian Assault on Kremenchuk
Ukraine's air force said it neutralized 167 out of 194 Russian missiles and drones in a massive, complex overnight air assault, but acknowledged that the central industrial city of Kremenchuk was struck.
In its morning report, the air force detailed a large-scale attack involving a swarm of 183 Shahed-type drones and decoy aircraft, alongside a barrage of high-end missiles. The missile attack included two Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles, an Iskander-M ballistic missile, and eight cruise missiles of the "Iskander-K" and "Kalibr" types.
Air defense forces, including fighter jets, ground-based missile systems, and mobile fire groups, were able to shoot down 119 of the incoming targets. Notably, the military claimed to have downed all two of the advanced Kinzhal missiles, as well as six cruise missiles and 111 drones.
A further 48 drones were "locationally lost," a term Kyiv uses to describe drones that were forced off course and disabled by electronic warfare systems.
Despite the high interception rate, the report confirmed direct impacts in the city of Kremenchuk in the Poltava region, which was described as the primary target of the Russian assault.
