They probably wanted to model an PKM smersh or partizan which were popular with FSB machine gunners even in to modern times, which makes sense since it looked like they were going for the FSB/MVD look with the Defender 2 and K6-3 of the support guy. but I imagine they only had a Eagle Industries harness to base it off.
