NASA might become a part of DoT as space travel becomes more important and integrated into our national transportation infrastructure system. This is a great pick.

His political party is costing him over 100x what he intended on spending on it personally now lol.

Some of them seem preplanned. No reasons for any of them officially. One was a longtime guy and seems to have not gotten a new job yet--possibly retired. The others were a woman who was a scapegoat for Musk's bad decisions and a guy whose proudest accomplishment got xAI sued last month.

Elon had a number of chances to actually retain influence here and squandered all of them:
1. He could've continued lobbying Congress like he's been doing for decades with a fairly substantial budget, but cut all funding this year and said he wouldn't fund them at all for the first time in at least a decade.
2. He could've made less egregious and insulting statements about everyday Americans, American culture, and the American way of life. His comments about people who are "checked out" due to hopelessness just being lazy were somehow worded in the worse way possible. If I just posted, "People who claim to be 'checked out' because they're hopeless are just making excuses for laziness." you would be more likely to agree than if I insulted sympathizing with characters who are hopeless and sad on TV shows. Musk completely went full retard and burned his credibility here.
3. He could've tried extending his stay at DOGE longer.
4. Literally just don't make this bill defunding Tesla into a BBL Drizzy sort of celebrity feud it became.
5. Try to make some constructive suggestions rather than simply complaining.
6. Resume subsidies to Congress after realizing he lost all influence
7. Geofence the poll
8. Don't create the party
He could've done any number of things to avoid this.
