Fallout 3 is a kind of game where you can go basically almost anywhere at any time. Open world.
And yeah you just loot stuff, try to maybe create some synergy I guess.
One moment you are just walking around and another you are abducted by aliens.
I guess it could be fitting for the story.

But yeah I don't think there is a factory full of robots, at least I didn't come by one. There is a power station full of feral ghouls tho
