So I just got my license but still looking to set up a station, still figuring a lot out about the equipment. I've noticed that there are plenty of DIY antennas out there, and a simple vertical or dipole antenna looks easy enough for a beginner to build.
But it seems to me that not just the antenna but the whole setup is tuned for a very specific frequency, and everything is a function of the desired wavelength. But even within a band there are a range of frequencies you can use. So how does that work? Do you have a separate antenna for 10m, 2m, 70cm, etc and keep changing between them? And within a single band, do you get an antenna tuned for like the middle frequency of the band and accept that performance won't be as good on the edges of the band?
