It's more that they want to lock any racers people actually care about behind their paywalling, but they need SOME character that people can at least try to earn by playing the new season, and those always end up being the most shit. The season's really for adding Lotso and Zurg, which I suspect is also because they don't have the budget to add another track just yet, so they went with a series that already has its major characters and a track added.

I stopped playing this shit months ago, but every time I look at it again, it just looks sad.
