Unless this is a hallucination (or maybe Ken has fake corpses of everyone made and ready to use to fake their deaths for the fake egg fallout) It would explain the weird anomaly we know of the timeline. Since Ken likely got himself put in the inferno and later escaped, taking Mel and Breadhead with him as well as recruiting Mud, But this would have been over 5400 years ago, so no way Ken took Mel back then and she is still the age she is now.
